ABOUT DAPES

Born in 1996 in Istanbul. Started drawing at young age. Started painting the streets when he is 17. Industrial design college dropout, he thought it’s too much mechanical. Dapes paints for a reason:
To remember what matters in a time when culture forgets. To share our creativity with resonance.
His work is a quiet rebellion against the culture of soul-numbing flood of noise, bombarding with distraction.
Each piece is a flame — a call to reconnect.

Let the fire keep burning.

Artistic Statement

I create because something precious is slipping away in the world — the ability to simply be, to feel the ordinary moments without feeling. The joy of our life!

We do not need more distractions, more noise, more ways to escape ourselves, more bombarding our system with unnecessary plastic information.
We must discover our inner space when we are alive. It is already here clouded by everyday hustle but the sun is still there even if it is clouded.

Some of my work carries the trace of altered, meditative states.
Some of it is meant to make spaces breathe differently — softer, deeper, more alive. Some of the works carry the rebellious vibes of the street and vibrance of trance. I do not think we can neglect any side of it, generally my focus is the positive and celebratory.

It’s not about chasing higher realms or waiting for special moments.
It’s about waking up, burning through what’s false, and living more real.
Let that inner space blossom in the garden of our stillness.
